  In October 2019, the Port Authority board authorised

  This merger started the dominance of Continental Airways, and later United Airways, at Newark Airport.
  
  Newark is a major hub for United Airlines (Continental Airways earlier than the 2010-12 merger).
  
  In 1945, captured German aircraft brought from Europe on HMS Reaper for
  evaluation underneath Operation Lusty have been off-loaded at
  Newark and then flown or shipped to Freeman Field in Indiana or Naval Air Station Patuxent River
  in Maryland.
